Piercing F.A.Q.
Questions
And
Answers
1. Does it hurt?
A) Yes, a
needle is going through your skin. Obviously it will not be totally painless.
The pain associated with most piercings is mild and easily tolerated. Even in
the most sensitive piercings the pain lasts less than a second. The least
painful piercings are the navel, eyebrow and tongue.
2. Is it going to hurt a lot?
A) No, I’m not going feel
anything but, Thank you for asking.
Once you have decided that you want a piercing – Get what you want and get what
you think looks best. Don’t let fear of a very brief, miniscule amount of pain
deter you from your desired result.
3. Is my navel OK to pierce?
A) Yes, no matter if your stomach is
flat or large, your belly button is tiny or big, an inny or an outy. Your navel
can be pierced and done so that it looks nice.
4. I was pierced before and took it out,
can it be re-done?
A) Yes, it can even be
re-pierced in the exact same spot, if you liked where it was.
The piercing must have been empty of jewelry for at least 2 weeks if it is/was a
new piercing. Older healed piercings can often be re-opened (with a taper) as
opposed to being re-pierced, even if they’ve been empty for a while. This may
not be true for all cases and re-piercing may be required.
5. How should I take care of my piercing?
A) We
will provide you with a printed care sheet that you will take home with you, and
your piercer will go over all of the instructions with you before you leave.
6. I smoke, drink alcohol, etc….. can I still
get my tongue pierced without having to give everything up?
A)
Yes!
7. I want to get a genital piercing: do I need
to shave?
A) No,
while it is preferred ( at least a close trimming) it is not necessary. An
exception would be if you were getting a guiche, in which case a very short
trimming would be the minimum.
8. Is everything sterile?
A)
Yes, the needles used are sterilized before use, and are discarded immediately
afterwards. They are never re-used! All tools are sterilized by germicidal bath
and autoclave. Jewelry is sterilized prior to use and is never re-used.
9. How much is it going to cost?
A) The
cost of the piercing varies by location. Jewelry prices range from $10 to $50.
It’s best to come in or call for more specific information.
10. I have ( any medical condition), can I
still be pierced?
A) In
almost all cases, Yes. Please, discuss this privately with the piercer,
beforehand.
